Wine and dance, is there a better combination?
Elmhurst Ballet School is one of the oldest vocational ballet schools in the UK and is a world-renowned centre of excellence in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, preparing talented young dancers (aged between 11 and 19) to become dance professionals of the future.
The school takes in students from around the UK and beyond with a good percentage of students born and bred in Birmingham which is fantastic.
The school promotes that talent is classless by visiting a number of schools in Birmingham and the UK and encouraging students who may not have considered ballet as an option, that it is most definitely an option that is open to gifted, passionate and committed young people, regardless of their class, financial or social status. Elmhurst proactively nurtures individuality through a holistic approach to training, education and health, delivered by current and former dance professionals, which helps students to become independent, collaborative and versatile dancers.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023, Elmhurst is keen to open up its stage and talent to Birmingham in new and exciting ways and invited Brum and Beyond to an evening of wine and dance.
We were treated to four unique dances and a corresponding wine that matched the dances perfectly.
Wines were provided and introduced by Loki Wines and included a Feudi San Gregorio Albente; Rioja Reserva; Cotes du Rhone and Chardonnay.
It was a really unique and fun take on wine tasting and the dancers were incredibly talented. I would love to see more events like this and there is so much scope for wine and dance events in spaces across Brum. Ikon gallery- wine and dance? Yep. Birmingham Museum- wine and dance? Perfect. I think its fair to say there will be more events coming up from Elmhurst like this, so watch this space.
