Chocolate. Everyone loves chocolate don’t they? But handcrafted truffles and making your own chocolate from bean to bar? Well, count me in at 2 days notice, I’m that committed to the chocolate cause.
The Chocolate Quarter is a chocolatier and chocolate shop based on Spencer Street in the Jewellery Quarter. It’s small, cosy, family-run and packed with hand-crafted, one of a kind, delicious artisanal chocolates that are made on-site.
To be specific, truffles, bars and treats that are infused with all kinds of weird and wonderful flavours including Chilli & Lime, Smoked Bacon, Gin, Champagne and many more. I’m talking proper melt in your mouth chocolate and intense flavours that are mini desserts in themselves. You know, the kinda treats you don’t want to end. Tick. And then there’s the chocolatey smell, EVERYWHERE which for me, is the dream.
The Chocolate Quarter offers a variety of truffle boxes of 4, 9, 16 and 25 with a special Christmas menu including Christmas Pudding, Monkey Shoulder Skotch Whiskey, We Three Kings (Frankincense, Myrrh and Mandarin), Hot Butter Gin, Amaretto and Marzipan, Baileys, Gingerbread, Champagne and Mulled Wine. Prices range from £6 to £37.50. Or if you prefer you can create your own box of truffles or buy truffles individually if you want that quick chocolate fix, or is that just me?
The Chocolate Quarter create their own hampers too which are pretty cool gifts for Birthdays, Christmas or just because you know, you fancy treating yourself. They also provide chocolate experiences such as gourmet chocolate tasting, truffle masterclasses and bean to bar masterclasses grinding down the cocoa nibs yourself. Yes, yourself. We were lucky enough to get involved with making our own chocolate and I’m no chocolatier, but it tasted pretty good and was a lot of fun.
And just when we thought the chocolate vibes weren’t amazing enough, out came the chocolate fondue and a range of fruit to indulge ourselves silly. Can we just take a moment to appreciate this rose gold fondue pot. Want.
Aztec hot chocolate is also on the cards, made up of solid blocks of chocolate that you can add to hot water to make an intense chocolatey drink that puts your standard hot chocolate to shame- you may as well put that cuppa down too and take note.
If you’re not really feeling chocolate though (really?) there are lots of non-chocolatey treats such as Toffee & Fudge Crisp Cookies, Clotted Cream Shortbread, Chocolate Chip Biscuits, Clotted Cream Fudge and many more…
The vibe at The Chocolate Quarter is really casual and cosy and its a perfect place to pop into if you’re in the area and want to indulge or if you’re looking for something special for friends/family or just for you. Because you totally deserve it.
The owners are lovely, friendly and more than happy to talk about how the chocolate is created and offer great recommendations that fit any occasion. Thanks to Suzie for organising!
